After a tough spell on my syndicate where bites really were hard to come by, I made a switch from my usual AR approach over to the Nut-X, even though the AR had served me well previously, there’s always room for a change up and I have full confidence in all the baits. Very quickly into the first session, I had my first fish under my belt at 28lb 14oz and my son, Oscar also managed a 26lb mirror a short while after. With this session fresh in the mind and knowing that the Natural Maple+ from Origin Baits was soon to be released I decided that a combo of the two would now be my attack going forward and with a 48hr session approaching confidence was high for us both.
For our 48hr session We arrived about 7am and both opted to fish a nut x wafter on one rod and a Natural Maple+ Hard Hooker with 10mm yellow topper on the second rod, these were deployed out on the spots with around a kilo of lightly glugged boilies over each rod. Given the recent warm weather and slow reports, our ambitions were realistic and if we had just one fish each, we would both be very happy. We didn’t have to wait long. The first bite was at 3pm on the first afternoon, my rod was away with a lovely 25lb 8oz mirror this was soon followed by my son getting a take around 6pm which resulted in a beautiful 26lb 8oz common and a new pb! ‘That’ll do!’ I thought, not knowing how the remainder on the session would roll out.
Going into the night we were both over the moon with the result already, but what was to follow was the icing on the cake, as at 3:30am I was woken by receiver screaming and my rod was away again with line being stripped from my reel. After a tense battle in the dark a huge mirror was finally guided into the net and straight away we could both tell it was something special and on the scales the dial spun round to 35lb 4oz, which was a new pb for me as well! A Natural Maple+ Hard Hooker with yellow 10mm topper proving to be a winner. With three fish and personal bests in the first 24hrs to say we pleased would be a understatement. Over the next 24hrs the bites continued and I landed another mirror of 25lb 2oz while my son landed a beautiful mirror of 24lb and a large pike of 16lb that wanted in on the action 😂. Four fish at 24lb+ a pike and a mid 30, it’s safe to say the Origin works …. Get on it 💪 💪
